I just installed Vista and everything went smooth. It finished installing then the screen went black so I restarted my system and it gets to where I am supposed to put in a username and password then the screen goes black and reboots. I have used safemode to put a username and password in and even used safemode with networking to get online but my system will not boot normally to the desktop. It only goes to where you put the username and password then reboots. Does anyone have any ideas to help me out?

Vista keeps rebooting
I think its time do an upgrade. It sounds like a conflict with device in your system. The answer now is to find out which one. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

It is either a driver (most likely), or a startup item in msconfig. Was this a clean install or an upgrade? If a clean install, then almost certainly a driver. Since the screen is turning black, I would start with video drivers..

I found the problem!! It was the video card driver that I tried installing at 4 different times. I guess with it being Beta it took just a little longer to recognize the new driver.
I have successfully installed Windows Vista using DAEMON tools by mounting the ISO image. After it completed the installation it restarts. Once after it loaded the loading screen the screen went blank for a second and then automatically rebooted itself. What could be the cause of this this problem and is there any solution?
What happened after that restart? Did it reboot back to the boot manager? Have you tried booting into safe mode and see if it will finish setup? You didn't mention anything about the Out Of Box Experience page. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

I've tried safe mode but it keeps rebooting thus I cannot complete setup. It did reboot back to the boot manager. I didn't get to reach the Out of Box Experience page. "Andre Da Costa [Extended64]" wrote:

What happens is when setup is finished expanding files and installing features, it reboots. After when the loading screen with the grey loading bar goes, my PC reboots. I went to Boot Manager and disabled resart on system failure. I tried booting on Vista and I recieved a BSOD with the following tech info:
*** STOP : 0x0000007b (0x80606BB0, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
I have the exact same problem, install went fine (so far as it told me), but when I try and boot into Vista I get the grey loading bars, then the system restarts, every time. Same story for safe mode.
I have the sme issue only I can get into safe mode just fine. I'm running a Abit IL8 945P chipset w/ Pentium D 920 and a XFX 6600 256mb DDR2 any clues?

I have the same problem, only would like to add one thing ( that my be impoortant). I have been running Vista for several weeks without any problems, and one day the problem occured - it just started rebooting itself after loading the grey bars. I reinstalled Vista, but the problem still exists, which means I cannot complete installation. It just proofs it is not the istallation problem, but I don't know why it happens.
It wasn't caused by any updates (which I have set up to wait for confiramtion to download), I did't change anything I could remeber....it just makes me crazy
Anyone could help?

I have the same issue but I don't get the grey bar, I just get to where it says what build of windows vista it is and then it reboots itself. I even tried every option under the advanced options. Even safemode won't load. Can someone please tell me what went wrong? I won't touch my computer untill someone helps me.(I wrote this on my friends computer.)

Yup, had the same problem with all but the original Beta 2. I have finally given up on trying to figure out just what was giving Vista the problem and no one here had any suggestions. It really is too bad that the built in fixer didn't even have any decent clues, well it had no clues. I have however bitten the bullet and emptied my F drive and then switched C with F and have done a from scratch install. I didn't even have time for my shower and it was done--less than 30 min. Works great!

To add another twist I can't burn DVDs I just have a dvd reader. I downloaded it from microsoft and got a program to "decompress" the ISO so I could install it from my hard drive. Does anyone have any suggestions?
P.S. I tried ordering the dvd set 7 weeks ago and my order doesn't exist. I tried re-ordering it 3 weeks ago and my order still doesn't exist. Any suggestions on that to?
Sorry if it reposts I had an error sending the post.

I am trying to install vista beta 2 using the DVD i created. I have checked the pre-requisites and it says i am geared for the ultilate edition.
I have a: ASUS P5LD2 x700 ATI PCI Express 300GB SATA Maxtor
Before i have any options to do anything, vista setup keeps rebooting. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
Did you burn the DVD at a low speed, 2x recommended? How did you launch setup, from within an existing installation Windows or boot from the DVD?
also do a CRC check on the ISO to find out its integrity. Nero MD5 Verifier is a recommended choice. If setup still fails, its likely a bad download.
I use the one from Ahead Nero http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Nero_MD5_Verifier.html
Here are the MD5/CRC values for x86 or x64 depending on which every ISO you downloaded:
x86 - File Size = 3.12 GB (3,355,598,848 bytes) - CRC Value = 0x67E089E0 - MD5 Value = 0E733AB1A8E8FF9A8684FD3639332773 x64 - File Size = 4.01 GB (4,309,368,832 bytes) - CRC Value = 0x48697711 - MD5 Value = E43502D0A15EADD551119D5639859E04
Paste the MD5 Checksum for either x64 or x86 depending on which one you want check in Step 1, Step 2 - Browse to where you stored the ISO on your drive and open it and it will automatically start the varification process and generate the has in the third field, if it matches Step 1, then you are safe. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

I ran a crc check on the downloaded ISO file and it passed. Also burent another DVD this time at 2x but still cannot get vista setup to load. I have tried to run setup from DVD and also within my windows xp install. Neither worked. My windows xp install is currently on a single basic patition. Not sure if this has any importance.

I have a: ASUS P5LD2 x700 ATI PCI Express 300GB SATA Maxtor
Before i have any options to do anything, vista setup keeps rebooting. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
I just installed Vista and everything went very smooth up until the end. The last reboot it did it got to where I have to put in a username and password the it just rebooted. That is all the further I can get unless I use safe mode, then I can put in a username and password plus if I use safemode with networking I can even get online. But if I try and let it boot normally it either reboots at the username and password screen or the screen just goes black. I got as far as trying to put my password in but I get 3 letters in and everything freezes and goes black.

The next time the screen goes black, let the machine just sit there. When I installed, (and finally got a working OS) the first time Vista starts up it sometimes takes 10 minutes or longer to finally bring up the desktop. After that, it works great. I really like it so far. -- If you can read this, thank a teacher. Since you are reading it in English, thank a Soldier.

This problem is strange! I have went in safemode and just put in a username so now it goes to just when it should open my desktop and then reboots.
